The moment Jim and Sasha Allen made it onto The Voice Live Shows, they created history as Sasha is the very first openly transgender contestant on the NBC reality show to advance past the Battle Rounds in the entire 21 seasons. The Newtown duo of Jim and Sasha Allen, are now in the Top 8 throughout the 21 years of the live shows on The Voice! Sasha made it known that he is transgender, when he presented their audition package at the Blind Auditions. According to Parade.com, this was not a quick decision. "That was a difficult choice to make as you're exposing a vulnerable part of yourself in front of millions and millions viewers," said Sasha, who transitioned while he was in high school. Support from the audience and the effect that it is having on others, despite the fact that the choice was difficult is what made Sasha to make the change beneficial. "We performed it long before The Voice was even a thing for us. This was an incredible surprise. The song was one we already knew; it was one we were already thinking of arrangements for. The fans were awestruck."
