Ashley Graham is a Nebraskan born. Her two younger sisters raised her, but she was often bullied in school due to her large thighs. Graham's attention deficit hyperactivity was first diagnosed shortly after she finished primary school. Graham battled this issue as well as other challenges throughout her early years. A talent agent discovered Graham at the age of twelve in the Nebraska shopping mall. She appeared in magazines and on billboards before she completed her graduation at Lincoln Southwest High School, in 2005. Graham received offers to appear as a catalog girl over the course of several years, but was told that she wouldn't succeed beyond simple assignments. Then, she appeared in Glamour magazine's 2009 issue "These Bodies Look Beautiful at all sizes". Graham made headlines for the second time in 2009 after she was featured in the controversial Lane Bryant commercial that ultimately was banned across the globe. At the time that the commercial was taken off YouTube, it had been watched by more than 800,000. The controversy grew out of control and she addressed it in The "Tonight Tonight Show" which was hosted by Jay Leno.
